Chemistry 1B

Summer 14

Introduction:
In this experiment we are tampering with the concentrations, temperatures, and catalysts to see the
effects it has on the Iodine Clock Reaction. First we determine the rate law and rate constant of the
reaction and then witness how catalysts and temperature effects the Iodine Clock Reaction.
Procedure:
Following the procedure that is shown in the lab manual .

Results:

Analysis: We found the concentrations of the solutions that we mixed together through calculations
and through that, we found the rate and the K, which lead to the graph above. Errors may have come
from inconsistency and inaccurate measures of solutions and massive amounts of data.
Conclusion: The rate of reaction for the solutions that we mixed were all affected drastically by the
different factors that affects rate such as hot or cold, and catalyzed or uncatalyzed.
