Some famous scientists were Louis Pasteur and Marie Curie, who
advanced scientific knowledge greatly. Louis developed a cure for rabies,
while Marie developed radiotherapy. People today are saved by their discoveries. While both Louis and Marie had made wonderful developments, Louis made an important one, in the germ study. Louis developed what is now called pasteurization. We use this every day in most households. In passage 2 it states, This was a radical discovery and made drinking milk safe. The process of pasteurization was named after him and it saved many lives. Louis had saved many citizens from sickness caused by a bacteria in milk. Louis also discovered a cure for rabies, for humans and animals. In passage 2 it states, Louis and his team of scientists worked around the clock to save the people who had contracted rabies. Also it says, Testing on animals affected with rabies was successful. These quotes state that he not only made a cure for rabies in animals, but humans as well. Louis not only saved humans, but he also saved animals, so he saved many species in society. Marie Curie invented x-ray machines, which saved countless soldiers. In passage 1, it says, By the end of the first World War, over a million soldiers had been examined by her x-ray units. While this states that it saved millions of soldiers, it says nothing about citizens. Also, for all we know, the soldiers being saved could be killing innocent people. She did make another important discovery, nonetheless, called radiotherapy. In passage 2, it reads, It was from this discovery of radium and its properties that the science of radiation was able to develop using the properties of radium to burn away diseased cells in the body. Although this is an important discovery, it is also known that Marie died from radiation, the same radiation being discussed above. Marie saved many people, no doubt, however, other than encouraging women across the globe to enter male dominated jobs, which is already taking place elsewhere, she really didnt contribute to society, save for radiation, which killed her. Marie Curie and Louis Pasteur both had amazing ideas about science. Louis Pasteur discovered a cure for rabies and developed what is now called pasteurization. Marie Curie discovered radium, made radiation, and practically invented x-rays. However, Louis was solely transfixed on finding cures, and saving people. He not only made the cures, but administered them himself. He shows kindness, determination, and endurance through strife to help society.
