Lesson Planning Checklist

1.

Does my lesson have a clear aim?

2.

Is it clear which skill (speaking and listening, reading, writing, grammar,

language arts) is my main focus?

3. Have I worked out the aim of each stage of the lesson?

4. Are the stages of my lesson in the correct order?
5. Does my lesson have an opening routine / closing routine / something for
fast finishers?
6. Does my lesson have songs?
7. Does my lesson have a variety of learner-centered activities?
8. Does my lesson include a variety of interactions: whole class, teacher to
student, pair work, group work or individual work stages?
9. Does my lesson have a game? Is my lesson fun and interesting?
10. Is my lesson student-centered? (that is, the children do not have to sit and
listen to the teacher or other children for over 10 minutes without having
their own activity to do where they get to do things on their own or with a
partner or in a group).
Think: Do my children in my classes answer me with:
a) Yes or No, in English
b) phrases or sentences, in English
c) Malay
And: Is my teacher log up to date with in-service training and workshop hours?
