Technology can be used in many ways to differentiate instruction in the classroom.
Technology can help a classroom in many positive ways! The benefits of using technology to
differentiate instruction is that technology opens up the world of learning, it helps students learn
more information, in faster, easier ways. Technology can be used in so many powerful ways to
teach students. Teachers can use video, audio, pictures, apps, programs, power points, and so
much more to enhance the learning experience for students. Their are so much wonderful
technology that can help a classroom in a positive way. Students can use education sites to play
games that reflect what they are studying in class. Educational games are great ways for students
to practice or review what they have previously learned in a fun way. Also technology can be
used to keep the students and teacher organized and up to date on assignments with various
organization tools that ipads, ipods, and lap tops offer. With all the positive aspects technology
brings to a classroom it does come with a few drawbacks as well. First, technology is expensive,
it cost schools a lot of money to buy and also replace technology for each classroom. Also
technical difficulties do occur from time to time. For example if the wifi is not working properly
or a device is not working as it should valuable class time could be wasted fixing things.
Technology could also be distracting to students. They could get side tracked and end up on
different sites or apps not intended to be used during class. Overall using technology in the
classroom comes with many pros and cons, and it is up to the teacher to determine what
technology is worth using in the classroom.
As a teacher it is so important to use technology to differentiate instruction. But it
is equally important to encourage and support your students to use technology as well. Students
should be taught using technology as well as practice what they are learning using technology.

When students use technology both in and outside the classroom it helps to prepare them for the
real world. A great way for teachers to encourage their students to use technology is to
incorporate it into lessons so students have a chance to use various forms of technology in the
classroom. Also teacher can incorporate technology into homework assignments so students
become familiar using technology outside of the classroom for educational purposes as well.
Student achievement is greatly improved when technology is used to differentiate
instruction. After a study done, according to the report, Focus on Technology Integration in
Americans Schools, there's been a 31 percent increase in the "innovative use of technology by
teachers in core subject areas." What's more, in these schools, the report found significant
increases in reading and math achievement (17 percent to 33 percent in reading and 18 percent to
36 percent in math) (Enhancing Education Through Technology). When technology is used in
the classroom it helps students so much as well as gets them involved and excited to learn!
Student-centered technology in the classroom is very important. Technology can change
how a student learns but only if the instructor is adept at creating a course that

capitalizes on the pedagogical benefits that technology facilitates in helping

students meet the desired learning outcomes for the course, said Shibley,
associate professor of chemistry at Penn State Berks. Teachers need to
facilitate the learning in the classroom, and the best way to do this is to
incorporate technology.
