1. What is it?

The European Union is a group of countrys governments that come together to form one.
They are to pay their way in and with that money that planned to help the way people live
and the world of business.

2. When was it established? Who were the original members?

The E.U. was established November 1, 1993. The members who were first in the European
Union were France, Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg, Ireland,
UK, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic,
Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, Malta, Cyprus and Bulgaria.

3. Who is in it currently?

The members who are currently in the E.U. are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech
Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Italy,
Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania,
Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, UK, Sweden and Croatia.

4. Which European nations are NOT members?

Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein are not a part of the E.U.

5. What does it do?

The E.U. makes rules that will help the people in Europes bond a little bit closer. Not only
does it try and help the way people live, but it is here to help prevent wars.

6. How is it run?

The European Union is split into parts, each different part deals with a different thing. The
European Council is where the big decisions are dealt with. The European Parliament deals
with everything that comes by the law. The European Commission comes up with new laws
that are sent away to be voted on. Every six months a new E.U. gets picked to be the
presidency.

7. Who and why are some in the UK Pro-Europeans?

Pro-Europeans are people who think the EU is a good idea. Pro-Europe people think that a
place like Britain can benefit from forming together and being a part of a bigger group.

8. Who and why are some in the UK Eurosceptic?

Eurosceptic are people who think that the UK is becoming damaged because its losing its
own identity. There are political parties known as UKIP who believe the UK shouldnt be in
the union.

9. What is the Euro?

The Euro is the coin that people use as money. A Euro is not like the American dollar
because its not made out of paper. It is like the American quarter, but worth the
amount of a dollar. The euro is used in 16 different countries.

10. How has the EU grown since its birth?

The E.U. has grown in size since it has first started. Taking the first step in to creating the
European Union there were six countries and as years have gone by it has been growing.
Since 2007, there is a total of 27 members in the E.U.

11. Top five aims of the EU?

The top five aims of the E.U. are to help increase and promote the social and economic
progress and to spread knowledge in hopes for other countries to finally listen to Europe.
Also anyone who is in the country that is taking part in the E.U. is also a citizen. The last
two aims are to develop a safe and secure land to make the people in Europe feel like

theyre free and to build on the laws to maintain a list of rules that will protect the rights of
people in Europe.
