Midterm
I cannot believe that it is already midterm, but I have been learning
productively so far in this class. For the key concepts, I can say that I am
strongly engaging with responsibility for your own learning Compared to
UWRT1101 class last semester, I feel like this class is more like own
learning for everything. I wrote lots of paper last semester and every time
we did peer work, I got feedback and revise my paper many times. In
contrast, in this class, we still do peer work but it is more like sharing my
work to show them what I have done so far and write what went smoothly
what was challenging. Also, from my blog post#3, I will read a book that I
borrowed from the library, I will ask Dr. Ron Lunsford some questions.
These are my own work and no one does the same thing so that only me
knows the results before I share. So I need to have responsibility for my
own learning. These are the reason why I feel this class is more focused on
own work and I have more responsibility for it more than last semester.
Moreover, I am also strongly engaging with getting out of your
comfort zone I have been trying to do something new and challenging this
semester. First of all, I mentioned in blog post#3 that I decided to ask Dr.
Ron Lunsford some questions. Now I am trying to get this done for my
research. I am also going to ask some bilingual students questions and do

some survey as well. These are what I have not done last semester and must
be interesting for my research. Even though I still have not done these, I am
trying to make my research productive and get out of my comfort zone.
One of the concepts intellectual growth and maturity is challenging
for me. From the course description, Students learn to distinguish
rhetorical contexts, practice different conventions, and develop positions in
relation to research. So far, I do not think I have improved or developed
enough those skills from course description. I still do the work that only
assigned in class and I have not studied by myself. For the second half of
this class, I need to do extra work such as read a required textbook for this
class so that I may understand how to distinguish rhetorical contexts.
Furthermore, I also need to check my classmates weebly website more
often so that I could know how they do their work and I might know some
techniques that they use.
One of other concepts, providing and receiving feedback has been
challenging for me. Sometimes it is still hard for me to provide a feedback
because everything looks right or perfect. This is why I often ended up
saying I agree with this or I like how you stated I know this is
terrible but this has been my flaw. For the rest of semester, I will work on
thinking more effectively and try to give my peer group member helpful
feedback. From my weebly blog post, my group member Jordan
commented saying I would suggest looking into how the Phoenicians
helped to organize a standard alphabet. I realized that I also need lots of
knowledge like Jordan has. Knowledge would definitely help me giving

everyone suggestion and feedback. I also liked how Jordan suggested me

something to look into; he did not force me to do. As stated above, I hope
I will give them a great feedback to help them out.
