JobshadowingallowsCadetTeacherinternstheopportunitytofurtherexploreother

gradesandsubjectareastheymaybeinterestedinpursuingforateachingcareer.

Pleasedothejobshadowingforthetimenormallyrequiredwithyourmentorteacher.

ClearthiswithyourmentorandinformthehighschoolofficeandCadet

instructor/coordinatorofyourchangeinscheduleforthattimeperiod.

Priortothejobshadowyouwillneedtoturninanintakeform,andaftertheevent,an attendanceformandemployerevaluationformalongwiththecritique.Allformswillbe availableontheCadetgmailsite. Pleasereturncompletedpaperworktoyour(job placementcoordinator)attheTechnologyCenter.

APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK (INTAKE FORM, ATTENDANCE FORM,AND EMPLOYEREVALUATION FORM MUST BE TURNED IN TO MRS. LINDERMANINORDERTOPARTICIPATE.

TheJobShadowintakeformwillbeusedtogenerateajobshadowagreement that will need to be signed by a parent/guardian and the Job Shadow teacher/supervisor.

Bedetailedinyourobservation.Comparetheclassroommanagement,differencesin

theagelevelabilitiescomparedwithyourcurrentplacement,whatactivitiesyou

observedtheteacherandstudentsdoing,andyourconclusionsfromtheexperience.

JOBSHADOWINGOBSERVATION:

Thisschoolyear,Ihavetheprivilegeofworkingbesideoneofmyrolemodels andcloseadultfriends. EversinceIhaveknownher,Ihavepoppedmyheadinher classroomandwasastoundedattheabilityshehastoconveythestudentsdoidolize her.It’snotthatshedoesitonpurpose,butthroughherwayofteachingsheisableto haveallofthechildrenshecomesacrosslookuptoher.

Since I am inmusic,customs,andcultureintheEarlyElementary,Isee12 classrooms throughout my time there.Thedynamicofeveryclassisverydifferent. Somearequietandwell­behavedandotherareboisterousandrowdy.Everysingleone

ofthe23classesMrs.Krempaseesthroughouttheweek,shetreatsfairlyandthesame

amountoflove.Shehasexpressedtobethateventhoughshelikesotherclassesmore thanothers,shelovesthemallequally;Ithinkthisisvitaltoateacherandhisorher success. Mrs.Krempaseestheyoungfives,firstandsecondgraders;whileIamthere,I seefirstandsecondgraders.Thereisanobviousdifferencebetweenthetwogrades and even though they are very different maturity wise, they are given the same procedures.Theseincludewalkingintotheclassroomquietly,findinghisorhername tag,walkingontheorangelineallthewayaroundtheEarthcarpetuntiltheyarebytheir seat.WhileMrs.Krempawasexplainingtheprocedures,sheshowedthekidswhatnot todoandaskedthemifwhatshewasdoingwasrightorwrong.Thatwaytheyhadthe opportunitytoshowherthattheyknowwhattherulesare.Oneofthemostimportant thingsIobservedwastheaskingofquestions.Kidsrespondbetterwhenyougivethem thechoicebetweenrightorwrong.

Becausewehaveonlyseeneachoftheclassroomstogetherfor30minutes,we

haveyettogettoindividualactivities.Theconsistencyoftherulesandexpectations

withbebeneficialwhenthetimecomestoparticipateinotheractivities.
