Kinematics

Physics traditionally begins with kinematicsthe study of

motion (of matter).
Kinematics does not deal with the causes of motion.
We define position r relative to some axis system.

A mini-review on vectors is needed!

Note: the equations of kinematics are purely

mathematical, derived using definitions of velocity and
acceleration, and assuming constant acceleration.
They do not need further proof or experimental
verification!
They are the law!
(assuming, of course, constant acceleration)
You will obey them!
