Dear Leo Burnett Group:
I would like to apply for the Summer Internship program, listed on the internship
page of the companys site. I am a student at Xavier University, majoring in English
and minoring in Advertising. The experience I have had inside the classroom will
allow me to contribute to the company as I have taken Strategic Communications,
Communication Research Methods, Professional Writing, and Writing for the Media.
These classes dealt with researching brands, knowing the audience, as well as being
able to write concisely as well as creatively. I was required to analyze brands and
campaigns, conduct a case study concerning brand loyalty, and rhetorically analyze
a press release.
Skills that will allow me to succeed and benefit the company in this position are my
written and research abilities as well as my understanding of what it means to be
commercially aware. My written communication is effective in that I am able to
express myself clearly in writing, I have experience in analyzing and investigating
as I was required to study and create a case study about consumer loyalty. Lastly, I
understand what it means to be commercially aware as I was required to write press
releases and reports for media purposes. Doing this required me to think of my
entire audience.
