Artifact Three Reflection
In this discussion, I learned that, contrary to popular belief,
polices in fact are not allowed to search through ones phone without a
search warrant. Before, I had always believed that they could look
through my phone to find substantial evidence when convicting me of
a crime. However, now I know that I am not obligated to hand over my
phone to any police unless s/he has a warrant present. By reading this
article, I learned that I am protected under the Fourth Amendmentan
amendment that protects me against unwarranted searches. Now, I
have learned a beneficial piece of information that I can carry with me
my entire life.
Because the right to privacy is highly controversial in todays
discussions, the Supreme Court justices has made it clear that polices
cannot search through a persons phone for evidence, regardless of
how delinquent the crime and criminal are. Thus, this article has also
changed my perspective about the Supreme Court. Before reading this
article, I had believed that the Supreme Court was biased, favoring
only federal and state authorities. I believed so because in many
previous cases, I did not agree with their ultimate decisions, making it

seem that they always sided with other powerful people. In this specific
case, however, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of a man who was
clearly at fault but was found not guilty due to invasion of privacy.
Ultimately, this assignment has helped hone my summarization
skills. Before, I was very rusty in summarizing an article and would
extract every bit of information from the article. Usually the articles I
choose are lengthy and full of information, so I didnt have to worry
about
finding
the
right
information
to
summarize.
