FR (Flame Retardant) PVC Insulated House Wires

L &T House Wires are made of Electrolytic grade, bright, plain

annealed copper conductor, as per IS : 8130 - 1984. These
wires are suitable for all Commercial & Domestic wiring
applications.
For additional safety, the insulation is of Flame Retardant
- FR PVC compound. It has high oxygen and temperature index.
L&T House Wires are twin coated for superior insulation. The
House Wires have uniform diameter and are available in
standard lengths of 90 metre coils.

Single core, twin insulated wires in voltage grade 1100 V, conforming to IS : 694 - 1990 with additional FR properties.

Special Insulation wires

L&T Flame Retardant Low Smoke (FRLS) wire - These wires
are made of special insulation material with higher oxygen and
temperature indices and lower smoke density rating and acid gas
generation. This insulation retards flame propagation and
generates low smoke under fire condition.
L&T Zero Halogen Flame Retardant (ZHFR) wire - The
insulation is free from halogen, thus preventing emission of
corrosive gases under conditions of fire. These wires are primarily
used where critical control supply is essential during a fire - lifts, fire
alarms, hospitals etc.
Oxygen Index is used as a measure of flame retardant property of
the insulating material. The oxygen index indicates percentage of
oxygen required for supporting combustion of insulating material at
room temperature. Higher oxygen index is desirable.

Temperature Index indicates the temperature at which normal

oxygen content of 21 % in air will support combustion of insulating
material. Higher temperature index is better.
Smoke Density indicates the loss of light transmission from
insulation material under fire. Lower the Smoke Density, the better is
the visibility & efficacy of fighting operations.
Acid Gas Generation indicates the amount of hydrochloric acid
gas evolved from insulation of cable under fire. Lower Acid Gas
Generation is desirable.

Telephone & Switchboard Cables

L&T telephone cables can be used for switchboard and internal telephone wiring in
high - rise buildings and commercial premises. These cables are made of solid,
annealed, high conductivity bare copper conductor insulated with high density
polyethylene. The insulated cores are twisted to form pairs and are bunched to
minimize cross talk.
The cores are helically wrapped with polyester tape to form laid up cables. These laid
up cables are further jacketed with grey, High Oxygen index FR PVC. A nylon rip
cord enables one to safely peel off the jacket without damaging the cores.
These cables generally conform to ITD specifications S / WS 113C.
Characteristics : Low cross talk, Fire retardant jacket, Low attenuation

Co-Axial Cables
L&T Co-Axial Cables are used for transmission of audio and video signals in Cable TV network.
The center conductor is made of electrolytic grade solid copper and ensures better signal transmission. It is insulated with foam
dielectric made of polyethylene injected with nitrogen gas which is superior and more environment - friendly than chemical
foam.
The first shield is made of special composite type bonded aluminium foil. The second shield is of special-grade aluminium alloy
braiding and has 60% coverage. This ensures low loss in signal quality, additional mechanical strength and resistance to oxide
formation in tropical weather conditions.
The black color outer jacketing is made of special PVC which is ultraviolet and abrasion resistant.
L&T Co-Axial Cables are fully tested for all parameters by a computerized analyzer. State-of-the-art technology and worldclass design ensures the following salient features for these Co-Axial cables :
High-band width : allows network expansion 100+ channels
Low attenuation value : reduces electromagnetic interference
Minimum loss in signal quality : ensures better reception
Moisture proof : makes it ideal for tropical conditions
