NUR2106 Assignment Topic 2015

Mrs Susan Thomas is a 75 year old widow, admitted with dizziness and dehydration.
She was found confused and unsteady on her feet by the district nurse when he
visited her home. She has a history of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, hypertension and
hypercholesteraemia. On admission her BP is 90/60mmHg, pulse 92, respirations
24 and temperature 37.2C.

She is complaining of palpitations and her mucous

membranes are dry. Her medications are as follows:

metformin 1g BD orally

atorvastatin 50mg mane orally

captopril 25mg TDS orally

1. Discuss the pathophysiology of her diagnoses.

Thomas was displaying when found. Are they related to her diabetes in any
way?
