VERITAS Small Shoulder Plane

Designed to seat nicely in the hand, the smallest VERITAS shoulder plane is easily controlled using a one-handed
grip. The lever cap wraps around the rear of the body, shrouding the blade adjustment mechanism so it does not
obstruct the grip while acting as a comfortable rest for the palm. The through-hole and textured recesses cast into
the side of the body provide grip points for fingers.
The plane weighs 1 lb 2 oz (510 g) and has a 6-1/4 in. (159 mm) long, 1/2 in. (12.7 mm) wide sole. The ductile
cast iron body is accurately machined and ground so that the sole and sides are flat and square.
The low bed angle of 15 combined with the 25 blade bevel results in a cutting angle of 40 for exceptional
end-grain cutting. Set screws along the side let you accurately position the blade so it requires no lateral
adjustment when replacing the blade after sharpening. The lapped blade is 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) thick, 1/2 in. (12.7
mm) wide, and made of A2 tool steel.

The planes adjustable toe lets you restrict the mouth for very fine
shavings with minimum tear-out.
