Management
Arrangement

Students will be
sitting on the
bleachers facing
the teacher.

Teacher Communication,
Observation &/or Performance
Cues
Teacher will ask students if they
remember what they learned the
previous classes.
Teacher will call on students to say
what we learned and to give a good
explanation or demonstration to the
rest of the class about that skill.
Teacher will call on 4 different
students to discuss or demonstrate
the forehand, backhand, serve, and
clear shot.
Students will be playing the game
Round the Clock. Students will get
into a circle to play this game.
One person will be in the middle of
the circle as the hand. They will
start wherever they would like, and
call it 12. They will hit the birdie to
each person after 12, as 1, 2, 3, etc,
and try to keep the birdie up and
under control all the way back to 12.
After this, a new person will go into
the middle, and everyone who wants
to go in the middle will get a chance
to go all the way around the clock.

Goal Orientation or
Assessment

The goal is for

students to review
what was learned the
last few classes so
that they can build
upon that during this
class period.

Warm-up

10
minutes

Students will be
standing in a circle
big enough for
each student to be
a part of in the
middle of the gym.

Defender
Doubles

28
minutes

Students will be
with a partner and
a set of partners on
their own court
playing defender
doubles.

Today we are going to review

everything we have learned so far
and practice them in a game of
defender doubles. Everyone needs
to get a partner for this activity.

The goal is for

students to practice
the skills they have
learned thus far in
the badminton unit in
a fun way.

Conclusion

2
minutes

Students will be
sitting on the
bleachers facing
the teacher.

Check for understanding on the skills

practiced that day so that we can
build off of that in tomorrows lesson.

The goal is to check

for understanding
and inform students
of what we will be
doing tomorrow.

Ask students to demonstrate the

serve, clear shot, and forehand and
backhand grips and answer any
questions they may have.
Tomorrow we will be learning the
smash and drop shot.

The goal is for

students to get
warmed up and to
play a fun game that
reviews the skills
they learned the last
few classes.
