Introduction to Modes

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes - Overview
New tab called "Modes"
A "Mode" can be used to group a set of Automations together

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes - Basics
All homes must have at least one Mode.

The default mode following Release 2.9 is named "Home".

All currently enabled automations will be migrated to the Modes called Home, Away and Vacation
The active mode cannot be deleted

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Creating a New Mode

A user can add a new Mode using the Create Mode button; there is a limit of
five Modes total.

The number of automations within a Mode is unlimited

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Add Name and Icon

When a user adds a Mode they can name the Mode and select an icon for the
Mode.

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Editing Existing Mode

An existing Mode can be edited to change the name or the associated icon.

To edit, click on the gear icon for the Mode

The Edit Mode section is

displayed where the name
or icon can be changed.

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Add or Remove Automations

For each Mode, the user can view the entire list of Automations, and can
remove or add Automations to the Mode.

In the image below we see that "Home Mode includes three automations that could be removed
from the mode by clicking the "Remove" button, and there are two other automations that we could
add to the mode if we clicked the green "Add" button.

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Delete Mode

If a Mode is not the default or currently active, it can be deleted using the
Delete button.

10

Click the gear icon for the mode to enter the Edit Mode display
Click on the Delete button
NOTE: Deleting a mode does not delete any automations

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Run on Start

When a user chooses to add an Automation to a Mode, they can also choose to run the
Automation when the Mode is activated by checking the Run on mode start box for each
Automation.

In the example below, the first two automations will run actions immediately when the mode is activated.
All three automations will run when the trigger is executed while the "Away" mode is active.

This means
that when the
Mode is first
activated, the
Automation will
run all the
start/end
actions and
ignore its
triggers (similar
to Run Now).

11

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes - Dashboard
User is able to view and change the current active Mode from the dashboard

Click on any Mode icon to select it as the currently active Mode

In the screen shot below, the user has a Mode called Vacation that is active as
indicated by the green highlight. At least one mode must be active at all times.

12

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Adding Automations to a Mode

When a user creates or edits an Automation, they can now (optionally)
designate which Modes will include the Automation using the check box for
each available Mode.

13

Nexia Home Intelligence

Modes Using Modes

By default, the "Home" mode is selected when creating a new Automation.
By adding the Automation to a Mode, this means that the Automation will only
be enabled when the house has that Mode enabled.
If an Automation is deleted, it will no longer be included in any Mode.

14

Nexia Home Intelligence

Updates to Automations

Automations Run Now

Changed Do Now button to say Run Now

16

The Enabled box that used to be on this page goes away

Nexia Home Intelligence

Automations One Time Triggers

A user can now specify a one-time trigger for an automation.

Previously, a user could trigger an automation with time, but only for a recurring
schedule. Now the user can trigger an automation based on a specific one-time
date/time as well.

For example, if a user has a guest arriving early this Friday afternoon and wants the house to
be cooled when the guest arrives, he/she can set the thermostat to 72 beginning at 1 pm.
Note: the user must specify a
date and time.

17

Nexia Home Intelligence

The date cannot occur

before current date

If current date is selected

the time selected must be
later than current time or
the user will not be
allowed to save the
automation.

There is no limit to the

number of one time
triggers a user can add to
an automation, but max
test conditions were four.
