Introduction to Modes
Modes - Overview
New tab called "Modes"
A "Mode" can be used to group a set of Automations together
Modes - Basics
All homes must have at least one Mode.
In the image below we see that "Home Mode includes three automations that could be removed
from the mode by clicking the "Remove" button, and there are two other automations that we could
add to the mode if we clicked the green "Add" button.
10
Click the gear icon for the mode to enter the Edit Mode display
Click on the Delete button
NOTE: Deleting a mode does not delete any automations
In the example below, the first two automations will run actions immediately when the mode is activated.
All three automations will run when the trigger is executed while the "Away" mode is active.
This means
that when the
Mode is first
activated, the
Automation will
run all the
start/end
actions and
ignore its
triggers (similar
to Run Now).
11
Modes - Dashboard
User is able to view and change the current active Mode from the dashboard
In the screen shot below, the user has a Mode called Vacation that is active as
indicated by the green highlight. At least one mode must be active at all times.

Updates to Automations
16
Previously, a user could trigger an automation with time, but only for a recurring
schedule. Now the user can trigger an automation based on a specific one-time
date/time as well.
For example, if a user has a guest arriving early this Friday afternoon and wants the house to
be cooled when the guest arrives, he/she can set the thermostat to 72 beginning at 1 pm.
Note: the user must specify a
date and time.
