Beginning of the day procedure

The students are expected to use the bathroom and eat breakfast
before they come into my classroom. When they enter the class they
should immediately begin to work independently on the assignment
written on the board. They should also look at the schedule of
activities that we will do that day in class.
Seat work and whole class instruction procedure
If the students have a question or need help understanding
something then they are expected to raise their hand to ask.
Students are expected to remain quiet unless instructed to do
otherwise. Blurting out or asking a student will result in a warning
and further consequences if the behavior proceeds. Before the
students begin their seat work, clear instructions will be given and
questions may be asked then if they do not understand what to do.
While the students are doing their seat work I will make sure to
frequently walk around the classroom and monitor their work.
Group Work Procedure
When students have a group assignment, the groups will be chosen
by me. If the desks are not already arranged in groups they will

quietly move their desks into their designated groups. The students
are expected to use their inside voices when discussing and raise
their hands to ask me questions when they need to.

Announcements
Students are expected to be silent during announcements and
should only talk during the pledge of allegiance.

Tardy Students
Tardy students should enter the classroom quietly and check the
opening schedule on the overhead. A student's fi rst tardy will result
in a warning. A following tardy will result in lunch detention.
Leaving the room
Students are discouraged to leave the classroom. In the event of an
emergency, students must raise their hands to leave the room.
Bathroom and hall passes must be used in the event of leaving the
room. If a student has a habit of frequently asking to leave, I will
schedule a conference with them to resolve the issue. When we go
to lunch the students are expected to walk quietly in a straight line
in the hallways. The same applies for when leaving lunch. There is a
designated table for our class to sit during this time. Students with
lunch detention will sit next to me.
Retrieving Materials
Student materials will most often already be available in the
containers on their desks. When a student needs to get something
from their classroom locker, they must raise their hand to ask for
permission. The same procedure will be used for sharpening pencils.
End of Period
Students will be notifi ed twenty minutes before the end of the class
period to write down their homework assignments and items needed
for the following day. This information will be located on the
"Agenda" section of the board.

Ten minutes before the class period ends students must clean out
their desks, organize their group bin, clean up around their desks,
and pack up all of their belongings.
