Recent Trends in Petroleum Refining

Introduction:
The activities of the Petroleum Refining Division of EPRI cover all the refining
processes. These refining processes can be carried out by physical, chemical refining and
catalysis departments. Upon successful completion of programs and degrees, the specialist will
learn Solvent refining processes (Deasphalting, liquid-liquid extraction, dewaxing and deoiling).
The specialist learns evaluations of commercial and synthesized catalysts used in all the
petroleum refining processes.
Who should attend?
Chemical and refining engineers
Chemists

Topics:
Physicochemical properties of
catalysts
Testing the catalytic activity of the
catalysts using model compounds
and some of petroleum fractions
Mathematical
modeling
and
optimization of catalytic reactions
Recent trends in the cleaning of
diesel fuels via desulfurization process
Clean fuel evaluation by using different instruments
Lecturers:
Lecturers of the course are scientists in Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute. They
work as consultants for Egyptian Petroleum companies in the field of catalytic refining catalysts.
They have more than 150 articles published in international journals. They teach course in
