Identify Waltzing Matilda as initially a poem, and show an engagement and understanding of the topic.
Be able to create a mindmap using one of the chosen sites
Be able to navigate their way through lesson one in the weebly.

1. Students will enter the classroom, and log into their devices.

Resources/References
Align these with the segment where
they will be introduced.

2. They will be instructed to log into their kidblog, where they will
find the link to the weebly in Catherine Dunns Blog.

Motivation and Introduction:

3. Upon opening up the weebly they will be instructed to open


lesson one and wait for further instruction.
4. The teachers will briefly introduce themselves and the topic.
Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key
Questions):

1. As a class we will listen to the song linked under Task 1.

2. Briefly question the students on their prior knowledge of the


song.
- Hands up who has heard this song before.
- Where did you hear it?
- Why do you think it was being played?
- Do you think this song has any special meaning in
Australia?
3. Have the students follow the steps outlined on the weebly for
Task 2. Run the quiz as the students answer.
4. Once the quiz is finished have students share their feelings
about the activity with the person sitting next to them.

5. Have the students follow the prompts for Task 3. Open the
prezi and go through the answers as a class, elaborating as
need be.
6. On completing the prezi, check that the students are all alright
with the topic, and that they are comfortable with the pace of
the class.
7. Have the students choose one of the three website options to
create their mindmap as explained in Task 4.

8. Have the students embed their mindmap on their class blog.


Lesson Closure:(Review lesson objectives with students)
1. Question the class about their feelings on the lesson.
2. Have them fill out the survey linked at the bottom of the
weebly page.
3. Additional class discussion and question time if necessary.
Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be
judged?)
The first objective will be judged on the students answer to the last
question, and their response to the prezi. Additionally it will be judged
through the depth of the students mindmaps.
The second objective will be judged on the creation of the students
mindmaps, and their publishing them on their blog.
The third objective will be judged on the students competency in
navigating the weebly.
