Didyouknowthatbeforeanygovernmentjobsoranyjobyoumustbedrugtestedbefore
youcanwork?IntheUnitedStates,12ofthe50statesyoumustbedrugtestedtogetanyjob!I
stronglydisagreewithdrugtestingbeforejobsintheUnitedStatesformanyreasons.One,Its
unconstitutionalandcostly.Twoitisaverydisorganized,andThreeItviolatesamendments!
Whatifthiswasyouwhohadtogetdrugtestedforajob?DrugtestingintheUnitedStates
shouldnotbedoneforanyjobs!
MyFirstreasonis,Itsunconstitutionalandcostly.Firstitcostly!Withallthemoneythat
theyusefordrugtestingtheUnitedStatescouldbeusingforotherusefulthingsforgood!Eau
ClaireCountytypicallyspendsjust$500to$1,000annuallyondrugtesting(Vetter).Walker's
proposalcouldcost$75,000ormoreperyear(Ryman).Also,InDecember,afederalcourttook
downmandatorydrugtestinginFlorida,callingitunconstitutional(Rosica).Sincethisis
unconstitutionalitisgoingagainsttheconstitutionandmanypeoplemaynotlikethat.Thats
onlyonereasonwhydrugtestedshouldnotbedoneintheUnitedStates.
Second,Itisverydisorganizedandunclear.Inthevideowewatcheditstatesthatthis
formofdrugtestingisverydisorganizedandconfusing(Vetter).Thiswillcausemanypeopleto
becomeveryconfusedandnotmanypeoplewillwantthemtocomebackandbedrugtested.
TherearesomepartsofWalker'sproposalthatarestillunclear,suchashowoftenaperson

wouldbetestedfordrugs,saidLindaStruck.Thatismysecondreasonwhydrugtesting
shouldntbedone,becauseitisdisorganizedandunclear.
Thethirdreasonisthatitviolatestheamendments.IfyouDrugTestsomeoneitisa
violationofthe4thandthe5thamendment.Thefourthamendmentstates,youcannothave
unreasonablesearchesandseizureswithoutawarrantoraprobablecause.Itviolatesthis
amendmentbecausetheydonthaveawarrantoraprobablecausetodrugtestthem.Even
thoughsomepeoplesayitdoesnotviolatethe4thamendmentitreallydoes.Thereisnowarrant
forthegovernmenttosearchthepersonfordrugs.The5thamendmentstatesthat,imposes
restrictionsontheingovernment'sprosecutionofpersonsaccusedofcrimes.Itprohibits
selfincriminationanddoublejeopardyandmandatesdueprocessoflaw.Drugtestingshouldnt
bedoneitviolatessomeofourbiggestfreedomsasUScitizensandthatisnotfair.
AlthoughsomepeoplesaythatItcanhelppeoplebecomelessaddicted,andalthoughthis
maybetruebetterworkwillbedonebypeople.Approximately20%oftheUnitedStatesdoes
dosomesortofdrugs.Thatisabout48millionpeopleages12andolder("Alcohol&Drug
Information").That20%maybegoodworkersandthegovernmentislosingthem.Alsothat
20%willnotgetajobbecauseofthedrugtestingandmayresultinthembeinghomelessand/or
verylowonmoney.Theygovernmentwillbelowonjobsbecausethis20%willhavetobedrug
tested.WhichwouldcausetheUnitedStatesGovernmenttolosemoney.
Inconclusion,DrugTestingintheUnitedStatesshouldnotbedoneforanyjobs!There
aremanyreasons,oneitiscostlyandunconstitutional,twoitisdisorganized,andthreeit
violatesouramendments,especiallytheFourthandtheFifthamendment.IntheUnitedStates

thegovernmentwantsDrugTestingtobedonetopeoplewhoneedjobs,Istronglydisagreewith
thischoice!Ihopenowyoualsoagreeitalsoshouldnt.thinkaboutifithappenedtoyou.
