Management Plan

There will never be enough consequences to motivate tough kids to learn and to behave if we are not first
developing positive relationships. And without positive teacher-student relationships, no discipline plan will
work.
~Jim Fay

A classroom is to be a place of safety and learning. Classroom management and discipline

provides the students with the place that they need to learn to the fullest and feel safe. It is important
to be consistent with what the rules and procedures. Students need the teacher to be able to handle
them without a sweat. This shows them that they are going to be safe. Each student is responsible
for his or her own behavior. They are given choices of what discipline procedure should be given.
Each discipline will be different depending on the student. The students are to be identified as
individual and unique and they will have a discipline that will suit that individual need.

Rules and Procedures:

The rules and procedures are guidelines in the classroom and will be posted in the room all
year. The students will have the opportunity to participate in picking the rules and procedures that
they feel should be followed to make the classroom a safe place with guidance of the teacher. These
guidelines will be reviewed over everyday until each student understands what they are and what to
expect if they do not follow them. There will be 3 to 5 guidelines for the classroom so the students will
better remember and follow them.

Reminders:
The students have control over their behavior and actions. It is important that the student and
the teacher are clear about what to do if they choose not to follow the guidelines. The students will
receive reminders or warnings. The students will receive verbal and written feedback from me about
ways to follow the guidelines in our classroom. I would work with the student on what they think is the
best way to remember the guidelines and have him or her write them down. This method shows the
student that they are responsible for their behavior.

Problem-solving:
Problem solving is when the student has to develop a plan on how to solve the problem. When
the student has received the third warning the student must fill out a plan about how they are going to
resolve the problem. The student will learn responsibility, problem solving, and self-disciple for the
actions that were performed when they have to help with solving the problem. They will need to
answer questions such as; what is the problem, what is causing the problem, and what plan will I use
to solve the problem.

Consequence:
The consequence is not a punishment but more a result of a final warning. The students have
the responsibility of making their own choices and they will understand that when they make a choice
it can be a positive or negative consequence. The student and I will work with each other on a disciple
plan. The parents will be included during any disciple plan and be informed in the beginning of what I

expect of the students. The student will be given choices that will help lead the teacher and student
to an agreement of action.

Awards:
When the students follow the guidelines the students will be rewarded with positive
consequences. Verbal and written praises will be given on a daily basis. I will be informing the
parents on positive behavior that I notice in the classroom. I will praise the students individually but
also I will praise them when they are able to work cooperatively together as a group.
