Introduction:
This combined unit has been designed to help you develop your understanding and skills in the
design and production of on-screen graphics, particularly idents for television. In doing so, you will
also develop your skills in the production of 2D animation, using traditional techniques, digital
techniques or a combination of the two.

Scenario:
Over the past few years, many television channels have seen steady declines in their share of the
audience. One of the ways channels can attempt to deal with this problem is by re-branding. Part
of this re-branding strategy will involve overhauling their on-screen presentation tools, such as
their idents, digital on-screen graphics, credit squeezes and break bumpers. Your production
company has been approached to help them with this.

Brief:
You are required to devise a series of three original and innovative idents for your chosen channel.
These will be used before and after their programmes. While you have a reasonable amount of
freedom in the completion of this task, your channel has specified that the completed idents must
use 2D animation techniques and reflect the nature of their programming and target audience.
NOTE: Assignments may also be used to assess criteria from other units.
