Ifeltthelessonwentwell.Ifollowedmylessonplan(minusoneportion)andmyPrezikeptmeorganized
andallowedthelessontoflow.TherewasalotgoingonthatdaywithstudentsbeingpulledoutforWIDA
testing(somethingIhadnocontrolover)andothermandatedpullouts.Therefore,therewerebreaksand
distractions,butoverallthestudentswereengagedforactivitiesanddidwell.
Lesson/teachingstrengths:engagement,handsonactivities,formativeassessments(handsignals,posted
notes,questions),interaction(peerswithpartnersharingandwithteacher),anduseoftechnology(Prezi
presentationonSmartboard,videos,Elmotomodelworksheet).
Lesson/teachingweaknesses:pacing/timing,changinganactivitymidlesson.Themainproblemwiththe
pacinghadtodowiththeactivitychange.InthislessonIshouldofstayedwiththeplanofusingtheposted
notesasaquickassessmentofeverystudent,notasanindividualreportwherestudentssharewhatthey
wroteontheirpostednotes.Ittookentirelytoomuchtimeandstudentlostfocus.OverallIdoneedto
workonpacingandnotstayingononeconceptoractivityformoretimethanisneeded.
