1. Playdough
teacher will
collect the
photos of their
finished
playdough,
place against
the assessment

others body parts and connecting them in the application to make a human body.
Activity two:
- The students will be using playdough to make a person
- Photos will be taken of their work on the iPads.
Activity three:
- Students will be using the microscope to look at features of the human body. For example
the skin, hair, eyelashes, inside the ears etc. Pictures will be taken and students will
record their findings in their workbook.
Key questions:

Lesson 2
Learning experience:
This lesson carries on from the investigation in lesson 1, finding out about the human body and its
parts. The focus of this lesson is on synthesising this information and using their new knowledge
to complete the activities.
Activity one:
- Body part bingo (matching with counters)
Activity two:
- Interactive whiteboard online matching game. (Body parts and their names)
Activity three:
- Book creator application on the iPads body part photos and audio recordings
Key questions:
- What did you find out in our last lesson on the human body?
- What features/parts did you see?
1.Sentences
worksheet- the
teacher will
check that the
words are in
order. These
worksheets will
be marked by
the teacher.
2. Playdough
the teacher will
assess each
students
finished

product. (Does it
have the
features that an
insect should
have?).
MORNING SESSION
Lesson 3
Learning experience:
Students will form new knowledge about parts of an insect. They will be engaging with childrens
literature, ICT resources and playdough.
Activity one:
- Grant the Ant by Melvin Berger- sentence sequencing activity
Activity two:
- Viewing plastic/real bugs through the microscope
Activity three:
- Making playdough bugs and taking photos of their work on the iPads
Key Questions:
- What interesting facts did you learn about ants? (After reading the book)
- What makes up a sentence?
- What parts can you see on the insects?
- How many legs do they have? Can you count them?
- Can you remember what features you saw through the microscope?
- What does a bug look like?
1. The teacher
will remain at
the craft activity
and record their
observations.
(Are students
working
cooperatively?
Does their
creation have
the body parts
of an insect?)
2. The results of
the scavenger
hunt will be
recorded
through to the
teacher to be
marked.

Lesson 4
Learning experience:
The focus of this lesson is to use the information from the previous lesson, moving into activities
that apply their new knowledge about parts of a bug.
Activity one:
- Students will embark on a scavenger hunt around the classroom, scanning QR codes with
the iPads. Each piece of paper that is hung around the classroom will have a picture of an
insect; the students have to work together in small groups to name the insect by looking
at its features etc. By scanning the QR code, the name of the insect will be revealed.
Activity two:
- Students will work in small groups to create a bug using recycled materials.
Key questions:
- Why might we use recycled materials? Do you recycle in your home?
- What materials are you doing to use to represent X body part?
- What features are you going to include on your insect?
