Fire Protection for Power Plants - Firstly, a fire risk control program should be put in place,
which should be reviewed and updated periodically. As a minimum, written procedures
shall be prepared for the following:
Detailed fire prevention program,
Detailed impairments procedure, for identifying and rectifying equipment not available
for service,
Fire emergency plan.
Fire Safety Review - The objective of Fire Safety Review is to ensure that a fire,
hydrocarbon spill or vapor release anywhere in the plant can be adequately dealt with to
prevent escalation of the emergency (fires or explosion).
NFPA Diamond - Fire diamond is defined in NFPA 704. Proper labelling having the form of a
diamond is used in our days in order to quickly identify the risks posed by hazardous
substances.
Pre-startup Safety Review (PSSR) - The PSSR is a safety review conducted prior to startup
(commissioning) of a new or modified processing/manufacturing plant or facility to ensure
that installations meet the original design or operating intent, to catch and re-assess any
potential hazard due to changes during the detailed engineering and construction phase of
a project. In other words, it ensures the Ready for Start-up status of process
facility/units.
