Recommended Materials:
Materials must be brought to class every day.
Binder/Folder (to organize assignments, quizzes, tests, etc)
Notebook/loose leaf paper
Pencil(s)
Standards:
In order to achieve a proper learning environment, one in which all students feel
comfortable to learn, the following standards have been developed:
1. You are expected to treat classmates and staff with the same respect with
which you wish to be treated.
2. Work quietly. Give everyone a chance to work in a quiet atmosphere. Please
raise your hand rather than shouting out.
3. Listen, cooperate, follow directions, and always give it your all. Take notes, ask
questions, and seek out help.
4. Do your own work. All unoriginal work will receive a zero.
5. Remain seated until I dismiss you (not the bell), unless getting up to sharpen a
pencil, asking questions, turn in papers, and other times necessary to ensure
learning.
Homework:
Students will typically be given an assignment 2 3 nights per week, which will be
completed and turned in the following day (unless otherwise specified). These will be
graded for either accuracy or credit, depending on the assignment. Late work will be
deducted 15% for each day it is turned in late.
Exit Quizzes:
Most non-test days will end with an exit quiz during the final 10 minutes of class.
These will be a few questions pertaining to that days material (or prior material).
The students lowest quiz score out of every four quizzes will be dropped. Students
absent are exempt from that days exit quiz if it is an excused absence. Unexcused
absences will result in a zero score for that days exit quiz.
Tests:

Tests will be given approximately once per week. All tests will be cumulative!

Grading Policy:
Grades will be computed on a weighted point system. Points are earned in the
following categories, with the percentage given for each:
Homework: 10%
Exit Quizzes: 15%
Tests: 75%
The final exam with account for 20% of the final trimester grade.

Make-up Policy:
It is the responsibility of the student to find out what was missed, make it
up outside of regular class time, and hand it in. In most cases, late work will
be accepted but once the chapter test has passed it will not be accepted.
When a student is absent he/she should check the following:
1. The side white board daily assignments will be written on the side board
behind my computer, copies of the work and/or assignments will be located in
the bin, and a copy of the updated stamp sheet will be posted.
2. My website - the calendar is updated daily with class notes and assignments. If
you know you are going to be absent it is a good idea to check the website and
make up any work you missed before you even get back to school.
3. Talk to me if you have checked the side board and my website, and still
cannot figure out what you missed, then it is appropriate to talk to me about it.
