Line Plot
The distribution of the line plot tells us the differences of the smallest dogs and the
biggest dogs. The sample dog breeds that we used for our data represents a small
percentage of what a line plot for dogs can look like.

Dog Breed to Weight

Advantages
Some advantages of the line plot is that the line plot is a quick and simple way
to organize data less than 25 numbers. This is perfect for our data because we are
representing only 10 breeds of dogs. Another key advantage is that line plots shows range,
minimum and maximum, gaps and clusters, and outliers easily.

Disadvantages
Some disadvantages of the line plot is that the line plot is that it is not that appealing
as it seems. Even though it is an organized it is not that appealing. The line plot can only
use a small range of numbers. It cant use a large amount of number because it would
look very weird if it is all clumped together.

Histogram and Frequency Table

Advantages
One advantage of a histogram is that it shows the data clearly and is good visual chart
for our type of data. Another advantage of a histogram is that the mode can be easily
seen, and the order in which you put the data doesnt matter.

Disadvantages
Some disadvantages is that the histogram is that it is more difficult to compare 2 data
sets. The histogram can only be made if there is continuous data. It cant read the exact
data because it is grouped into different categories.

Best Chart
The best chart is the line plot. We think that the line plot is better than the histogram. The

line plot can tell us the exact data and what dog it is. It is a quick and a simple way to sort
the data. Since it was quick and simple to do, we decided that that was the best chart. The
histogram does not show the exact numbers.

Outliers
There are no outliers in our data. The data shown in the line plot and the histogram

doesnt show big gap in any of the numbers, and the numbers gradually grow as we go up
the plot.

Box Plot

Question:
The ideal weight of half the dogs is at least how many pounds?
Answer:
The ideal weight is the median. The median is 50%. The median weight is 33.4.
We knew this because we found out the average weight of the dogs that we chose.
Question:
Is using a box-and-whisker plot to find the ideal weight of half the dogs a
reasonable way to go about finding that data? Explain why or why not.
Answer:
Yes it is reasonable way because that is how you could find the median of your
data. You can find what the height is in the middle of the data.
Question:
Explain why you would
not
use a line graph
to display the data.

You would not use a line graph because a line graph is used for seeing and updating
trends, or seeing the results over time. Our data however, is not a trend, we are just using
solid facts based on the weights of certain types of dogs.
Answer:
Data related to a dog that could be displayed on a line graph if we wanted to find
out the height that a dog grew over a certain period of time. This would make sense
because a line graph is used to show a trend, pattern, or change over time.
