Dear Colleagues,

18th March 2015

Design competition to celebrate HM The Queens service as the longest reigning

monarch of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
I was delighted to be asked to organise another design competition for the Worshipful
Company of Chartered Architects (WCCA), and am writing to encourage you to
participate!
Full details are given on the competition brief attached, but in summary, the WCCA
invites all Members and Student Members of the Company to participate in a design
competition for a Triumphal Arch to celebrate HM The Queens service on 9th
September 2015, when she will surpass her great-great-Grandmother Queen Victoria,
and become the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland.
The winning design will be framed, and will presented to HM The Queen by the
Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects to celebrate her extraordinary service. It
is hoped the winning design will be endorsed by the Royal Institute of British
Architects (RIBA), and the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), as well
as the WCCA, and that the three logos of these august bodies will be included in the
framing of the winning design.
The winner will be awarded a prize of two tickets for our special Livery Banquet on
17th June 2015, which is being held jointly with RIBA and CAA, when the winner and
two runners-up will be announced, and their achievements recognised with framed
Certificates. This banquet will also celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the CAA, possibly
with Royal presence, and will be held in the prestigious Drapers Hall.
The competition will be administered through the WCCA website, and can be reached
via the tab entitled Triumphal Arch Competition. If you would like to participate,
please register/express an interest via our website no later than Monday 20th April. All
design entries must be received no later than 12 noon on Monday 11th May 2015.
Kindest regards,

Valerie
