Unit Plan Random Act of Kindness

UNIT: Random Act of Kindness Mini Unit TIME FRAME: 2 weeks


TEACHER: Melissa Kujundzic
Unit Summary and Rationale:
Health and life skills involves learning about the habits,
behaviours, interactions and decisions related to healthy daily
living and planning for the future. It is personal in nature and
involves abilities based on a body of knowledge and practice that
builds on personal values and beliefs within the context of family,
school and community. In this unit we will explore, recognize and
expand personal skills. Students are expected to understand what
a random act of kindness is. They will understand and explore
what impact it can have.
They will explore feelings. Their feelings and others feelings. They
will recognize that presenting feelings may mask underlying
feelings. They will be to implement act of kindness for those who
deserve it. This unit also corresponds with Random acts of
kindness Week at our school.
Unit SLOs:
Health and Life Skills
R-5.1 recognize that presenting feelings may mask underlying
feelings; e.g., anger can mask frustration, hurt
R-5.3 recognize that stressors affect individuals differently, and
outline ways individuals respond to stress
R-5.4 practise effective communication skills; e.g., active
listening, perception checks

Physical Education
C5-6 identify and demonstrate positive behaviours that show
respect for self and others

completing quality work and understanding the curriculum, some
will be taken in.

Kindness Journal and Mission possible project will be marked for
assessment of learning.
