Rule 1 : We should use Active structure over passive because Active sentence str

ucture is clearer.

Rule 2: Start the sentence with the ideas that the reader might already be famil
iar with.
Rule 3: End the sentence with the new and significant information that can be ex
panded in the next sentence.

Rule 4: The topic of the sentence also known as its psychological subject should
be announced within
the first few words of the sentence as a noun phrase of some kind that the rest
of the sentence characterizes.

Rule 5: Topic string should be more consistent throughout the passage, so it can
feel more focused and cohesive.
Rule 6: Use less metadiscourses (and, but, therefore) to allow the central chara
cter to program the topic.

Rule 7: Use Passives when we would like to replace a long subject full of new in
formation with a short one that
locates the reader in the context of something more familiar.
Rule 8: We should switch the subject and complement when what follows the linkin
g verb refers to something already
mentioned.
