After selecting which CCC to attend, find out how to transfer to a 4-year University.

Answer the following questions based on the video:

1. According to the speaker in the video, what problem do many community college students
face?
A) They forget that community college is college and hat they have important standards
that they have to meet and students may not have in mind.
2. What does the speaker in the video believe is critical for success in transferring to a 4-year
university?
A) Going to a community college he believes that gives you a greater chance to make
progress and be able to transfer to a four year institution.

1. What resources can help you plan ahead so the transfer process will run smoothly?
A) Some of the recourses that can help use are:

The admission or counseling office of the two-year college you want to attend
Transfer advisers at offices of the four-year college you want to go to
2. Write down the four questions you should ask:
a. Does the two-year college have a special transfer relationship often called an
articulation agreement with any four-year colleges?
b. Will the credits I earn at a community be accepted at the four-year colleges am
considering?
c. What grades do I need to earn in my classes to get credit at the four-year
colleges?

d. What is the minimum GPA I need to maintain to get into a four-year college
from a two year community college??
3. Write down two facts from the How It Works section:
a. If enough of your courses transfer, youll start at the four-year college as a
junior.
b. If you dont get credit for some of your courses, you may need to take them
again at the four-year college.

Guarantee.
1. How do you pursue this special transfer degree?
A) You should meet with a counselor to develop an education plan that puts you on the
path toward the AA-T or AS-T degree.
2. What is the guarantee?
A) This means that students who earn an AA-T or AS-T degree and meet the CSU
requirements, are guaranteed admission a CSU. But this doesnt mean it is to a
particular campus or major.
3. How can this program help you?
A) You are given the opportunity to complete you bachelors degree with 60 semester
units or 90 quarter units of course work.

earned at one public California college or university can be applied when transferred to
another. ASSIST is the official repository of articulation for Californias public colleges and
universities and provides the most accurate and up-to-date information about student
transfer in California.
On assist.org you can look up your specific college and major to find out exactly what
courses will transfer. This is a great resource to help you plan your community college
class schedule.

Heres an exampleCassandra wants to attend San Diego Mesa College for two years, and then transfer to
San Diego State University. She is interested in studying graphic design. The following
articulation agreement shows which classes from Mesa College will transfer to San Diego
State to meet the requirements for her major.

Answer the following questions:

1. How many CC classes will transfer to the university you chose?


A) Nine of the classes will be the ones needed to be able to transfer to the university.
2. Are there any classes that are not comparable? How many?
A) Theres only one class that isnt equivalent.
3. Are there any special requirements listed (such as GPA)? What are they?
A) These classes must be completed with a grade of C(2.0) or bette then that.
4. How will this articulation agreement help you plan for your community college classes?
A) This will give me a better idea of the classes that will be needed to be able to
complete this major. Also it gives me and idea of the kind of grade I will need to be
able to complete this major that I want to take.
Note: If most of the required classes do not have a comparable community college class, then
you might consider selecting a different university to transfer to.
