Dear Mrs. Evans
As I was searching for position on agcareers.com, I came across your job opening. I was very excited to see your
opening for a Veterinary Technician position.
Previously, I worked as a Receptionist where I handled high volumes of telephone calls and scheduling duties for a
24-hour emergency Veterinary Clinic. I started at the same clinic as an intern where I tended to boarded animals and
cleaning responsibilities. My work ethic and performance as an intern have been awarded with a paid position then
another promotion to Triage Tech.
I discovered my passion when I had animals of my own and my time I spent volunteering with the Little Hills of
Kentucky Animal Rescue and the Wayne County Humane Society. My background includes assisting with
emergency patient care of animals, handling high volumes of patient charts and information, and surgical assistance.
Most recently, I have worked as a Triage Technician where I had a multitude of responsibilities such as, disinfected
the hospital, retrieve information about animals, assisting doctors and drawing blood. All of these tasks are vital to
the success of our veterinary team.
Currently a junior majoring in Agriculture with a concentration in Animal Science at Eastern Kentucky University, I
have maintained a 3.2 GPA while working part time. The courses I have completed have given me the knowledge
and confidence for a solid foundation in the assets you are looking for in this position, such as observing health
status of animals, administering IV, IM, SQ, and Per OS medications, cleaning laboratory, and restraint. I also have
a very proficient knowledge of medications and anatomical verbiage from the classes I have taken towards a degree
in Animal Science.
I also bring to the table a very strong ability for communication, especially during high stress and time pressure
situations with my time at my current employer, Advanced Animal Care. Working in an emergency veterinary
hospital has trained me to handle stressful environments in a calm manner, as well as working at a fast pace and still
be efficient and provide quality animal care. My current employer and my previous jobs have improved my
communication skills, by communicating with clients, and providing customer satisfaction. Please see
accompanying resume for additional information on my work experience and education.
I am extremely confident that I can offer the customer service, communication and technician experience that you
are currently seeking. Feel free to call me at 859-625-8804 or email me at kourtney_criswell3@eku.edu to arrange
an interview.
Thank you for your time I look forward to learning more about this opportunity!
Sincerely,

Kourtney Criswell
