Reflection: Occupational Analysis, OCCT 506

For this assignment I observed my mother in law who had a knee injury, climbing up the
stairs in her home. I conducted a very detailed Occupational Analysis and evaluated how knee
pain was interfering with her ability to continue to engage in occupations in addition to how the
environment might be presenting some barriers. It was very interesting to conduct this very
methodical interview and observation on someone that I know so well and have known for so
many years. I noticed things about her occupational performance that I had probably seen many
times but I had not thought about. This assignment was a great opportunity to practice what I will
be doing with future clients with someone that I feel comfortable with. It was my first exposure
to closely observing someone who has been injured.
