SSC ELECTION

Activity Center, last August 19, 2014 Commission on Election held the
Supreme Students Council Election for the year 2014-2015 to be led by Mr.
James Aranjuez, the chairman of the said organization.

ommission on Election (COMSELEC) organized the Supreme Students

Council (SSC) Election for the year 2014-2015 last August 19, 2014.
COMSELEC is an independent organization who enforces all the laws and
regulations relative to the conduct of student election in the school. This
organization planned for almost one month for the success of the SSC Election the
highest organization in Marikina Polytechnic College. COMSELEC made sure the
purity of election and one of their steps was to screen the candidates of each party
list. The purpose of screening is to weight the capability of each candidate, to know
how much they are willing to give their time and dedication, to know how they will
handle their position and the organization with the neutral service for the students
of MPC. Each candidates screened, unfortunately not all passed the screening stage,
there were candidates convicts to their position because of a valid reason such
having an OJT. COMSELEC officers followed the COMSELEC by laws; these laws
stated the limitation of the requirements of each candidate.
COMSELEC drawn the official candidates of SSC Election, there were two parties who
officially joined the election of SSC and these two named as PAKE Party to be led by
Ma. Cristina Mengullo and USEFUL Party to be led by Mary Jean Asuan, both
candidates ran for the position of president. These two parties met at the Miting de
Avance occurred at Activity Center last August 18, 2014, one day before the
election. In the said event, both parties showed their dedication to serve the
students of MPC and also they campaigned themselves to get the supports and
votes of most students. The two parties called their campaign as friendly fight,
Wala naman personalan sa amin, para po sa amin friendly fight lang po ito, said
Mary Jean Asuan. After the first batch of Miting de Avance, USEFUL Party offered
food for the lunch break to the PAKE Party and also to the officers and staffs of
COMSELEC, which showed that there were no really hard feelings between the two
of them.
August 19, 2014 the day of the election of SSC. Voting process started at exactly
8:00 in a morning, COMSELEC opened the voting process to all students of MPC, all
of the officers and staffs patiently entertaining the student voters though there were
circumstances that they encountered students who misbehaved and did not
followed the rules of voting, they actually giving time to entertain and help the
voters. COMSELEC were so busy doing their businesses just to maintain the good
process of election. At exactly 6:00 PM, the voting process was closed. All the ballot
boxes were taped and the COMSELEC made sure the security of the ballots. At 8:00

PM, the counting of votes started all the COMSELEC officers and staffs were busy,
they dealt to have an overnight for the canvassing of votes that long until the
following day.
August 20, 2014 the day of the proclamation of new SSC Officers. For the
COMSELEC, there was no time to rest because they knew that students and
teachers of Marikina Polytechnic College awaited the result of the SSC Election. At
5:00 PM, COMSELEC officers posted the tally votes of each candidate and these
showed the transparency of the election. Ma. Cristina Mengullo proclaimed as the
new SSC President of Marikina Polytechnic College. We could say that the election of
SSC for year 2014-2015 was successful and fulfilling, thanks to the people behind
that success without their dedication to their duty and the willingness to give
student service that election will not be possible.
