Introduction
An adult will help you read and follow instructions.
You have just opened a bakery where your job is to bake cakes. Your job is
also to recognize any /k/ sounds and make the sound sign when you come
across any in your cake orders and instructions. After you complete your
training course on baking cakes you get to bake a real cake with the help of
an adult.
The Task
At the end of the task you will be able to make a cake with the help of an adult.
You will gather the ingredients needed. Follow the instructions and bake your very
own cake! Along the way you will also produce the /k/ sound in initial, medial, and
final position. Before you can bake your own cake you will practice first with a
computer game.
The Process
First watch a behind the scenes video at what happens in a bakery. Remember to
watch out for those /k/ sounds!

cake together.
You first need to gather your ingredients and utensils.

Evaluation
Below is the following checklist I will evaluate you on when completing this task.
Did you follow instructions completely?
Are you finding /k/ sounds in the initial, medial, and final position?
Are you making your sound sign for the sound /k/ in the initial, medial, and final
position?
Are you saying the /k/ sound when you come across it in the initial, medial, and
final position?
I will be watching, listening, and asking questions to make sure you are
understanding and following directions.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You have just made your very own cake! As you completed your
cake order you were able to spot out the different /k/ sounds that were used. You
also followed and completed directions on how to bake a cake. You were able to
mix all of the ingredients together to come out with a single item. What else do you
think you could mix together to make something different?
Teacher Section
Standards
I choose /k/ sound because some children may substitute the /k/ sound with a /d/ or
/t/ sound. I decided on baking a cake because the /k/ sound can be found
throughout the directions and pictures.
I decided also to include following directions and mixing ingredients together so
that the child gets the idea of sequencing and how the events add up to an end
result.
Net standard for this WebQuest are
1. Creativity and innovation
2. Communication and collaboration
