Examples of what you saw or heard

All student can see the smart t.v clearly.
Sometimes the teacher move the children to
different seats when they are noisy or disruptive.
Also anyone can walk around the classroom
easily.
The rules in the classroom are stated in the
positive form, there are only 3 rules: be kind be
friends with everyone have a good listening
ears. Those rules are clear and everyone
understands.
When the students arrive, my MST greet them
with a big smile and saying Good morning,
welcome to the class.
There are some independent seatwork for the
children throughout the day such as, the creative
table, on that table the teacher put some colorful

kids who finish early?

5. Communication

Does the teacher praise often?

What does she say?
If the teacher reprimands (opposite of
praise), is it very short and not many
words?

6. Teach and Model Behavior

Does the teacher teach and model the

behavior she expects? (For example, if she
wants the students to listen while others
are speaking, does she do the same?)

7. Teacher Proximity (closeness)

Does the teacher move through out the

classroom?
Does she stand near those who are not
focusing?

8. Motivation System

Is there a reward system in the class?

Is it effective?

9. Goal Setting

Does the teacher set goals for the classs

behavior? (Does she say something like,
OK, today we are all going to get smiley
faces?)

10. Visual schedule posted?

11. Cuing system to gain control of the
classroom.

Does your teacher clap her hands or sing a

song to get the students attention? How
does she get their attention at the
beginning or end of an activity?

12. 5 to 1 ratio of positive to negative

comments and interactions?

Does your MST say many more positive

things than negative?

create anything by using that things on that table.

If some kids finish early, she tell them to wash
their hands then play with the blocks or eat their
lunch.
All the day the teacher praise all the kids in
different things, like on time she said for a boy,
wow, its a road, good job Abdul Nasser.
But sometimes they do bad things, like when a
girl said to another girl she is not her friend, at
that time the teacher said its rude from you to
say that, say sorry to her, and if you do it again I
will put a red class dojo point for you
the teacher teach and model the behavior she
expects, like one time when she wants them to be
quite and listening to the story while they was
noisy, she set and wait quietly, then they
recognize how she want them to be for that
moment.
The teacher move through out the classroom, and
she stand near those who are not focusing with
her.
The teacher use a reward system in the class it
called class dojo, and it makes the kids excited
about the good thing they do.
the teacher set goals for the classs behavior, like
on time she said Good job girls and boys, you all
will get green class dojo points
The teacher have posted a visual schedule in the
classroom.
Sometimes the teacher clap her hands or sing a
song to get the students attention, because they
love the rhyme, and they enjoy in that, so she get
their attention at the beginning or end of an any
activity.
My MST say many positive things more than
negative. In most times she just say a positive
things, and never mined the negative.

often? How do the children react?

14. Student answering questions

Does your teacher give everyone a chance

to answer questions?

Teacher give all the kids the chance to answer her

questions.

Observation
This week, observe two children: one who has excellent behavior and one who does not.
Write a paragraph comparing the two. Notice how the teacher interacts with both of them.
Watch how the children react when they are praised or reprimanded.

Watch how they both act when they are learning or working in groups.
What is the effect on the entire class when a child misbehaves?
Write several sentences about what you observed and what you think about it.
Which strategies does your teacher use with these children that you think are most effective in
managing the behavior?

This week, I observe two children, one who has excellent behavior and one who does not. The
excellent boy behavior become happy when the teacher praised him, but when she
reprimanded him, he try to do something good. The opposite of the excellent boy behavior need
a long time to stop doing the wrong thing when the teacher reprimanded him but when she
praised him, he become happy more than anyone in the class. The excellent boy behavior can
learn and work with a group quietly, but the opposite of the excellent boy behavior be noisy
when he work or learn with a group, and sometimes he annoying his friends. In few times, the
other kids follow the misbehave boy if they like what he did or if they think that he is funny. Like
when Abdul Nasser was making a road with the blocks and playing on it by the cars, he tried to
drive the car on the window, then the other boys saw him and try to do like him as a new funny
game. The teacher use a great strategy which work every single time, it class dojo, when the kids
do anything wrong, she warning them with a red class dojo point, so after that they dont it
again.
