    NONEUCITIZENS
    TheResidencePermitisissuedbyPoliceHeadquarters(Questura)and
    entitlesyoutotemporarilyliveinItaly.
    TherequestfortheResidencePermitmustbemadeWITHIN8WORKING
    DAYS fromyourarrivalinItaly,
    andisvalidforamaximumofoneyear.
    Thatmeans youneedtorenewiteveryyear.
    Forthefirstrenewalyouwillhavetosuccessfullypass
    atleast1examinthefirstyearofstudy.
    TheResidencePermitforstudypurposesallowstocarryouraparttimejob
    foramaximumof20weeklyhoursandayearlylimitof1,040hours.

    HOWDOESTHEPROCEDUREFORTHEAPPLICATIONWORK?
    1ST step:FilloutthekitandgotothePostOffice.
    Documentwhichmustbeincludedintheapplicationkit:
    1.MODULO1: fillitoutwithablackpen
    2. Acopyofyourpassport(justthepagecontainingyourpersonal data+VISA)
    3. CopyofselfcertificationprintedfromPolimiwebsite,attestingyourenrolment
    4. CopytheadmissionletterstampedbytheItalianEmbassy
    5. Copyofyourhealthinsurance
    6. Copyofdocumentationcertifyingtheavailabilityofadequatefinancial
    resources(about5,400 e.g.scholarshipcertificationorprintoutofabank
    account)

    Ifyoudonthaveapermanentaddressrightnow,youcanindicatethe
    InternationalStudentsOfficeaddress,orafriends.Themostimportantthingis
    tospecifyanemailaddressandaphonenumber,tobesureyoucanbereached
    anytimeforurgentcommunications.

    ATTHEPOSTOFFICE
    Assoonasyouhavegatheredallthedocumentsrequired,youcan gotoany
    PostOfficelocatednearyourresidence.
    Thereyouwillbeaskedtoshowyourpassport(orequivalentdocument)and
    topayapostchargeof57.50 fortheapplication.Youarealsoaskedtopaya
    smallfee,calledMarca da Bollo (14.62).
    Moreover,youarenowasked,onthebasisofarecentImmigrationAct
    integration,topayafurtherfeeof80,usingthepaymentslipyouwillfindin
    thekit,thereforethetotalamountforyourstaypermitis152.12.
    YouwillgetareceiptfromthePostOffice.Keepitalwayswith youandalways
    showittogetherwithyourpassport.Thisreceiptallowsyoutokeeptrackof
    thestatusofyourapplicationthroughtheuserandIDpasswordindicatedon
    it,byconsultingtheImmigrationwebsiteat:

    HOWDOESTHEPROCEDUREFORTHEAPPLICATION
    WORK?
    2ndstep:ImmigrationOffice.
    Togetherwiththereceipt,thePostOfficewillalsogiveyoualetterinviting
    youtogototheImmigrationOfficeinacertaindateandtime(usuallyina
    coupleofweeks)inordertotakeyourfingerprintsandshowall theoriginals
    ofthedocumentsyouputinthekit.

    ATTHEIMMIGRATIONOFFICE
    Onthedayoftheappointment,remembertobringwithyou:
    1.Yourpassport
    2. Theinvitationletter fortheImmigrationOfficeyouobtainedfromthePost
    Office
    3. Theoriginaldocuments youputinsidethekit
    4. Fourpassportsizedphotographs withlightbackground
    Youwillreceiveanotherletter,invitingyoutogobacktotheImmigration
    Officeonemoretime(about30/50dayslater)inordertogetyourelectronic
    ResidencePermit.
    OverallittakesaroundonemonthandahalftoobtaintheResidencePermit,
    fromthemomentyousubmitthekitatthePostOffice.

    WHILEWAITINGFORTHERESIDENCEPERMIT
    YouarenotallowedtotraveloutsideItalyorbacktoyourhome countrywith
    thesolereceiptofapplicationissuedbythePostOffice,unlessyouhavea
    VISAvalidforSchengen Countries.
    Onceyouobtainyourelectronicresidencepermit,youwillbeallowedto
    travelanywhere,nomatteriftheVISAforItalyhasexpiredinthemeantime.
    IfyouwishtotraveltocountriesthatrequireaspecificVISA(e.g.USA,RUSSIA,
    etc.),youwillneedtoapplyforit.

    IfyouareplanningtoliveinItalyformorethan90days,youmustregisterto
    theUfficio Anagrafe (RegistryOffice)bybookinganappointmenton
