DUET CHOREOGRAPHY PERFORMANCE

III. Goals and Student Learning Outcomes:


Goal: Perform duet choreography for classmates and teacher. Evaluate fellow classmates work.
Student Learning Outcomes: Students will perform their duet choreography for their classmates
and teacher as well as be able to express their thoughts on others dances to one another.
Goal 1: Perform duet choreography for classmates and teacher.
Student Learning Outcome 1: Students will know perform their created work for fellow
classmates and teacher.
Student Learning Outcome 2: Students will work with a partner on creation collaboration.
Goal 2: Review fellow classmates choreography
Student Learning Outcome 1: Students are able to express their thoughts and ideas about
other dancers choreography.
IV.

Learning Environment:

Class will be held in our schools dance room and students will be required to
dress out in dance attire. Students are also required to bring their iPads to class for
note taking, music playback, and as a recording device.

Resources:

Students will be using their iPads for any note taking, music playback, and as a
recording device.

Diversity / Differentiation:

Class is a mix of ninth and tenth graders. One student has Down Syndrome and
needs assistance with getting her iPad started and requires assistance by the
teacher to stay focused.

Technology Inclusion:

Students will be using their iPads as their sound source of music. Students can
choose to bring an additional sound system if they want the volume to be louder.
The iPads will also be available for personal note taking and/or video taping of
choreography.
Prior Knowledge: Prior to this lesson students created their duet choreography with
their partner based on the 5 basic elements of choreography.
Lesson Placement in the Unit: This is the tenth lesson of twelve in the Choreography

Unit.

Lesson Introduction / Anticipatory Set:


Class will begin with a quick prayer and attendance being taken. The teacher will check
to see if all students are in proper dance attire. The teacher will give the students 5
minutes to work with their partner before the showcase begins.
Direct Instruction:
The teacher will have the students take turns performing their duet choreography for
their classmates and teacher. The students viewing the choreography are to take notes
on what they see. These students will share their thoughts and feelings with the dancers
who performed. The students who perform will video tape their dance as they are
performing.
Student Interaction with lesson content / Guided Practice:
The teacher will be making sure the showcase is ran in a timely manner and that
comments after each duet do not last more than a few minutes. Students are to submit
their notes to Schoology towards the end of class.
Independent Practice:
There is no independent practice for todays lesson.
Review / Closure:
The teacher will end the lesson reminding the students to come prepared with iMovie
downloaded to their iPads as they will be creating an iMovie the following day in class.
Presentations:
Students are presenting their duet choreography that they have created for their
classmates in an informal showcase.

Evaluation/Assessment:
1. Students will be assessed formally this lesson. The teacher will be taking notes on
whether or not each element of choreography was used in the duets being performed.
