To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in strong recommendation for Krista Popkin. I have known

Krista for about two years now, initially as her advisor, then as an instructor,
and finally, as her university supervisor. She has continued to impress me
throughout this process. She has grown tremendously as a young woman and
as a teacher. She came into the program already with a content knowledge
background vastly greater than that of her peers. As she honed her teaching
skills, she truly became a student of the field and the profession; I had no
doubt that she would make a great teacher, as did her peers.
Oftentimes, clear standouts in a program amongst peers face a
tremendous amount of pressure to do well in their internships. Krista not only
stepped up to the plate and handled her teaching assignment with poise and
professionalism from day one, but she also was assigned a placement in
which she had to contend with multiple factors in additional to a general
internship, such as being placed in a Title I school and teaching dual
enrollment.
Krista has done fabulously in her internship. When I observe her, I find
myself having conversations with her that I would generally reserve for more
experienced teachers, and not first-time teachers. She is beyond classroom
management, time management, and student relationshipsshe is honing
her teaching philosophies at this point, not even midway through her
internship. She has a fantastic charisma in front of students, she cares, she is
professional but humble, and her pleasant personality makes her also the
essential teammate in an English faculty. I truly believe that a student like
Krista that works so hard and does so well will be successful anywhere she
goes and will be a valuable asset to any school.
Please contact me for any further details.
