Performance: Students will know how to compare and contrast two different types of mystery
novels using a bubble map.
Conditions: In order for students to get full understanding, they will be able to take notes while
the book is being read to them to help them when they are to complete their Venn Diagram.
Criteria: Student must come up with at least three differences between the two mystery novels
they are given and at least three similarities. Students will be given a total of 25 minutes to
complete this.

*Remind students as to what they have already learned about
mystery novels.
*Ask the class to raise their hands to contribute to the
discussion of what they already know about mystery novels.
* Present new vocabulary that will be seen in the reading of
the two books
* Explain to the students that the topic of todays lesson is
how to compare two different mystery novels
* Give background to both novels; titles, predictions, etc.
* Allow questions from all students on the topic of the lesson
we will be learning

Students, today we will be learning about how to compare


mystery novels that are written by different authors. We

Each student will be assessed by their completion of their Venn Diagram
that they created on two different mystery novels.
* We will discuss as a class new things that students learned
about mystery novels.
* We will summarize how we were able to find these
differences.
