I would use the form for self-assessment during the design phase of the course along with my
institutions course design rubric. Since pages 2 and 3 assess items relevant to each module (e.g.,
learning objectives, learning assessments, etc.), I would make copies of those two pages for the 15
modules in my course to check each one of them. Finally, I would also ask one of the support staff
members from the Virtual Education Institute to use the form to assess my course design two weeks
prior to the beginning of the semester. This would allow sufficient time to make the appropriate
adjustments to improve the course design.
