I. Objectives:
The children will develop literacy skills by participating in and listening to the
story Llama Llama Red Pajama.

The children will identify and communicate the color of the Llamas pajamas

The children will enhance their fine motor skills by coloring Llamas from the
story with red pajamas.

II. Materials:

Llama Llama Red Pajama book


15 coloring sheets of Llamas in pjs
Crayons or markers

III. Procedure:
A. Motivation
1. I will show the children picture of the Llama on the cover of the book.
2. I will ask the children if they have ever seen a Llama and where they
have seen one.
3. I will ask them if Llamas where red pajamas.
B. Steps
1. I will show the children picture of the Llama on the cover of the
book and ask the following questions: have you ever seen a
Llama? and where you have seen one?
2. When children respond, I will tell them how I am going to read them
a story with a Llama wearing red pajamas.

3. I will ask the children to assist me in reading the story Llama Llama
Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney.

4. As I read, I will ask the children to show me wear his red pajamas
are and describe the objects they see in each illustration.
5. When the story ends, I will tell the children that we will color our
own Llama with red pajamas from the story.
6. I will call each child to their tables by the color of their shirt. Ex: If
youre wearing red go find a seat at a table.
7. I will let each child color their Llama any color they want but then
have them color the Llamas pajamas red.
8. I will instruct the children to write their name on the back of their
Llama and assist those who need it.
9. I will ask each child what color or colors they have choose to color
with.
10. I will ask each child to clean up their area and assist where needed.
11. I will direct the children to the circle time to read any book in the
center.
IV. Conclusion:
I will have the children go to circle time and act like Llamas by crawling on
the floor and
V. Transition:
The children will tell me an animal in the story that they remember and act
like that animal, as they proceed to their next activity or center.
VI. Follow-Up Activities/Learning Centers:
1. Place 5 objects with the color red in the sensory table for the children to
discover.
2. Have coloring sheets of the Llama in pajamas in the art center for children to
color.
3. Put cards out of all different color objects on them and have them choose the
red objects only to enhance their memory skills of the color.
