Task 2 - Roles and responsibilities of the teacher

Focus: On the teacher

Student teachers will focus on the roles of the teacher, how s/he organizes his/her
classroom and interacts with the learners.

Objective

For student teachers to begin to understand the diverse nature of teaching by

observing a teacher for the day.
Procedure
Using the following checklist, observe the teacher throughout the day and write
down what her/his roles and responsibilities were, and how long was spent on
each.

Observation
Write a summary of your teachers roles and responsibilities
during the day and what you did to help her in the different
activities.
My teacher Zainab did a lot of roles today . First she signed in
then she started to prepare for the sport activities . She
prepared the gym for the kids . Then when the kids arrived to
the nursery she prepared their medallion and crown . I helped
the teacher in gathering the students and I talked with them tel
miss Zainab finish to receives parents . Then I helped her in
organising the kids and taking them to the gym . When we
started the activities miss Zainab encouraged the students to
play and dance and I documented thats events by taking photos
and videos . After that she took them to their class and asked
them to eat their snacks , then she tide up the classroom and I
helped her in cleaning the class . After that she played song for
the kids then she taught them the phonics . Then she took the
kids to the play ground and she was vary fair in dealing with the
kids , there were a few cars at the playground,and she makes
sure that all of the kids had their chance to drive the car ,and
she keep telling the kids that she love them . Later she took
them back to the class and she asked them to lay on the carpet
and sang with her . After that the students had their lunch and
slept while miss Zainab dealt with administration and met with
teachers .

Reflection
Put the roles and responsibilities in order of what you feel is the
most important job your teacher has to the least important
one. Explain your reasoning for this.
My teacher had a lot of roles . All of them are vital to make
a great lessons for the kids . I am going to order the roles in
order of what I feel is the most important to the least important
one . First ,of all I feel class teaching and deal with disruptive
behaviour are the most important role , because its the mean
role for the teachers in their job. Secondly, preparing for the
lesson ,because teachers should prepare their lessons plan alone
and with colleagues , so they know what they going to teach
their students .Third ,deal with administration like sign in ,
because when they do that they show respect for the school
rules . Fourth, take the students to the GYM or play ground to
encourage them to play because students should change their
day routine and strengthen self confidence by encourage them in
playing with each other . Fifth ,make sure that all of the kids are
eating ,its in the fourth order because that things is not the
main job for the teachers its the family job . Sixth ,meeting
with parents .Because they consist the half of the teachers
work. Parents continue to teach their children at home ,so
teachers should meet them to tell them what their children
need to improve. Lastly ,tidy up the classroom .Its in the last
order because it the less important role for the teacher , actually
its the maids job not the teacher , but still students should
learn in clean place , so no problem if the teacher clean their
class .
In the end I believe that all of what my teacher did are important
to create a great lessons and successful students .

Deal with administration .Because I am good at organising and
following role .
Which roles will be difficult for you? Why? Teaching , because the
teaching need vary hard work and being active all the day .

What surprised you?

(for example-are there any roles your teacher has that you were surprised to
find out a teacher does?) I surprised when I saw the teacher feed the kids ,
because I didn't heard before that one of the teacher roles is to feed the
students .
What shocked you?
(Did your MST have to do any jobs that you were shocked about? Something
that perhaps you did not think a teacher must do or should do?)
I shocked when I saw the teacher cleaning after the kids leave the
classroom , and when she took them to the bathroom .
What delighted you? The teacher
(What roles does your MST do that you are happy about because you like doing
those things?)
I delighted when I saw my teacher behaviour .She is fair and friendly , like
when the kids play at the playground there were a few of cars there ,and
she makes sure that all the kids had their chance to drive the car and she
keep telling the kids that she love them .
Any other things you thought about while you were completing this task.
(Maybe you thought things like, Wow! A teacher sure has to do a lot of things
during the day. Or, I wonder how s/he manages to do so much every day.)
Yes , I wonder all the day how did my MST deal with all this role then I ask
her and she said that she prepare a plan for each lesson , also she have
curriculum to use it in her lesson . Then she gives me a document with all
her roles in the nursery , there were a lot of roles for her and she should do
all of them .

 Ask your MST about the roles s/he prefers the most. Find out why. Are there
any s/he does not like to do that much? She likes to teach the kids and to play
with them ,but she dont likes planing and preparing the lesson before the
class , because sometimes when she prepares the kids mode is not match
with her plan , thats why she prefers to plan after she come to the
classroom and see the kids mode .
