Whiteboard Activity-Three Digit Addition & Subtraction

Measurable Objectives:
1. Individually, all third grade students will be able to solve seven threedigit addition problems with 100% accuracy.
2. Individually, all third grade students will be able to solve seven threedigit subtraction problems without zeroes with 90% accuracy.
Directions for Completing the Whiteboard Assessment
1. Grab a sheet of paper that has all students names and is divided into
two sections. The two sections are three-digit addition problems and
three-digit subtraction problems.
2. Give students one three-digit addition problem to complete on their
whiteboards.
3. Walk around the room and observe which students have the correct
answer on their whiteboards.
4. Put tally marks beside the names of the students who had the correct
answer to the addition problem on the sheet of paper with all of the
students names.
5. Go over the answer to the addition problem with the students.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 six more times with the students.
7. Give students one three-digit subtraction problem to complete on their
whiteboards.
8. Walk around the room and observe which students have the correct
answer on their whiteboards.
9. Put tally marks beside the names of the students who had the correct
answer to the subtraction problem on the sheet of paper with all of the
students names.

Go over the subtraction problem with the students.

Repeat steps 7-10 six more times with the students.
