WTI crude oil futures rose by nearly 3.5%


on Tuesday, amid a stronger dollar and
dwindling supply as prices reached a sevenweek high.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, WTI
crude oil for May delivery gained $1.82 to a
session-high of $53.96 a barrel in U.S.
afternoon trading, before falling back
slightly to $53.88 (up 3.33%).
Crude oil futures surged on Monday,
experiencing one of its highest daily-gains
of the year, amid the rising cost of Saudi
Arabian oil for Asian delivery and hopes for
reduced output in the U.S.
On the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE),
Brent crude for May delivery soared 5.94%
or 3.23 to 58.23 a barrel, amid increasing
margins for refiners. Prices for oil futures
fell below $56 a barrel in U.S. morning
trading
before
increasing
steadily
throughout the trading session to settle at
$58.10.
On the Comex division of the New York
Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for June
delivery eased 0.40% to $1,213.70 a troy
ounce.
Silver for May delivery fell 1.09% to
$16.923 an ounce. Copper futures for May
delivery rose 0.15% to 2.721 a pound.
