PURPOSE He
The Purpose of this procedure is to document the standard range of tests required by API 6A PSL3
SCOPE
This procedure is designed to cover Oliver Valves Ltd products.
SAFETY
Al pressure testing is to be carried out in approved test area,
Every precaution must be taken during pressure testing to ensure the safety of all personnel in the vicinity of
the test area. Wear safety glasses at all times when testing.
Hydrostatic body test pressure is to be increased in a controlled manner until final test pressures are
achieved, i.e. for initial tests increase pressure in 1,000psi increments increasing pressure slowly between
increments,
‘When lifting components correct handling practices must be used at all times.
TEST MEDIA AND CONDITIONS
All test equipment used for inspection, tests, reference standards and pressure gauges: shall meet or exceed
Oliver test and calibration requirements.
Test pressure measuring devices shall be either pressure gauges or pressure’ transducers, and shall be
accurate to at least + or - 14% a full scale range as detailed within Working Procedure 5.
Pressure gauges will have a minimum face diameter of 4" and measurements shall be made at not less than
25% and not more than 75% of the full gauge range. :
‘The maximum calibration interval for the pressure gauges shall be as detalled within Procedure 5.
All hydrostatic pressure tests shall be chart recorded. The chart retordér shall be used in
conjunction with the master gauge to + or - 4% of full-scale deflection. All tésting shall be conducted
at ambient temperature,fivervciive

Test media shall be tap water with a chloride content of less than 30 PPM and a temperature between 3 ~ 26
degrees Celsius,
Care shall be exercised during all times of the handling and testing of cdiponénts so’as not to damage any
seal surfaces, threaded parts or coated systems
HYDROSTATIC BODY TEST
The valve shall be subject to a hydrostatic body test consisting of two (2) pressure cyciés with a reduction of
pressure to zero between cycles. &
All valves must be in the partially open position.
During each pressure cycle the valve shall be pressurised to 1.5 x MAX C.W.P. and held for a minimum of
three minutes for the first cycle, and fifteen minutes for the second cycle.» The holding time shall not start until
the pressure has been reached and stabilized. The valve and pressure monitoring gauge shall have been
isolated from the pressure source and all exterior surfaces shall have been dried,
‘Acceptance criteria; no visible leakage during the hold time,
HYDROSTATIC SEAT TEST sind
‘The valve shell be subject fo @ hydrostatic seat test pressure at 1.0 x MAX C:W/P.'of the’ valve,
Each valve shall have one seat tested at a time, with the valve bore downstream from the seat being tested
open to the atmosphere.
Each seat shall be subject to a minimum of three tests with a reduction in pressure to zero between tests.
Holding periods for the first test shall be three minutes and fifteen minutes for the second and third. The
holding time shall not start until the pressure has been reached and stabilized.
The valve shall be operated under full differential pressure after each of the first two hold periods,
‘Acceptance criteria; no visible leakage, with a steady gauge and stabie chart.
NOTE
Following all testing the valves shall be thoroughly dried with air.
CERTIFICATION ;
A pressure test certificate, stating test pressure, time period of testing tor the Valve components, will
‘accompany a chart recording ofthe testing, (Valve Body and Valve seats)
