Mrs.

H's Super Second Grade Science Class

Assessement: Summative, Online Test generated by Testmoz.com
Grade Level: Second
Pennsylvania Content Standard: 3.3.2.A4:Explore and describe that water exists in solid (ice)
and liquid (water) form. Explain and illustrate evaporation and condensation (Pennsylvania
Academic Standards, 2015).
Descritption of Assessement: Students log into the test from any device with the link:
testmoz.com/483880 From here they take the test which consists of 12 questions. Several are
multiple choice. Some are fill in the blank. Others are true/false questions. When they are finished,
they log out. The program can display a score sheet which provides several kinds of data. It shows
the date and time the student began the test and how long it took them to finish. It shows the
number and percentage of correct answers for each individual. There is data for the group
percentage of correct answers question by question as well as averages for the class score
completion time. Students are able to access their marked tests that shows which answers are right
and which are incorrect.
Use of Collected Data for Instruction: Included below are the data compiled from the test. This
information is useful for instruction because of the way the data are broken down and it has an
option to export to excel to turn it into a spreadsheet. I can see question by question the overall
knowledge of the class and each student. For example, question 11, a true/false question on three
forms of percipitation, has a 100% score. From this I can see that all my students understand that
wind is not a form of precipitation and therefore, we do not have to revisit this item. Conversely,
although the entire class got question 11 right, I can see from the data that Katerina's average score
is 8%. I realize that she has not grasped the concept of the water cycle and she will need extra time
on this lesson. The other students have an average or above average conception of the water cycle
so they do not have to spend much more time on this unit. This information also shows me that even
though it seemed that the students were on target during instruction, I missed Katerina's lack of

comprehension. Perhaps this test would have been put to better use if it had been broken down into
daily quizes as a formative assessment. In this way, I would have realized Katerina's need sooner
and been able to readjust my instruction accordingly. Since this is not the case, I will have Sabrina,
who scored a 100% work together with Katerina whilt the rest of the class moves on to the next
topic.
