Declare his glory among the heathen, his

wonders among all people.

Psalm 96:3
(KJV)

Teachers and students ministering

to the residents of Ulleungdo.

There were some difficulties during the mission. If the plan

wasnt going that well, wed break out into arguments, said
Savannah Burton (7th), the arguments were settled quickly,
and we were able to focus on the task at hand again, [but] I
think our disagreements helped us get closer together.

Go Down to the Sea!

BY ABILGAIL KOH and SARANG PARK
On Thursday morning of March 26, a gaggle of ICS students
stood on a ferry, facing towards their impending destination:
Ulleungdo. There were mixed emotions. Some didnt really
know what to expect, while others were excited to work and to
make new relationships with the islanders.

One student who did not want to be named said that the trip
was not as easy as he thought it would have been. Despite
feeling well-prepared, he said, [i]t was disappointing when the
students didnt respond to the English teaching. I had expected
a level of indifference, but when I saw them rolling their eyes, I
definitely didnt feel good. Another student chimed in, saying,
Some of the students were only interesting in playing sports.
Others were focused and listening to us when we were speaking,
but it was hard not to notice those who brushed us off.

Staying at Donggwang Church for one week, the students

frequently worked with the local churches. We were involved
with two churches this year for Sunday school, and youths from
different parts of the island came to attend our service, said
Mr. Miller, the head of the mission team. This year had the
largest number of local youth members engaged with the ICS
team. Besides the church ministry, the students also
participated in a wide range of different ministries throughout
their stay. The best part of the mission trip was the ministry on
[the] Korean military base, said Esther Kim (11th), we had
worship with the military people and sang different songs with
them. One of the highlights was the English ministry with the
local high school students. I really like how we were able to
play soccer with them after the English ministry and create
valuable relationships throughout the trip, said Miss Miller.

Despite the difficulties, one can agree that the students were
impactful. The students passed out almost two-hundred copies
of the Korean-language Bible and created budding
relationships. Furthermore, the young students were able to
learn steadfast faith and perseverance.
Working for Gods purpose is not always smooth sailing, and we
are bound to meet many hardships and apathy along the way.
Yet by faith and fortitude, Christians will continue to spread
Gods love and His Word in this world.
