TREVOR MONTANA
MCMURTREY
His Personal Philosophy.

Everyone is given a set of skills and or abilities. Some may be more

noticeable than others. Whether it is being athletic, a good speaker, or you just
have a big heart, or are good at giving advice, it is my belief that everyone has a
place, and a purpose in building one another up, in creating an environment of
growth.
For me, I feel that one of my skill sets is happiness. Of course I get angry and
have a temper, but for the most part in my life I have chosen to be happy and to
preserver through trial, and to overcome failure by looking to a brighter future. A
man can fail many times but he isnt a failure until he gives up. That is something
that I try to live every moment by. Failure is just the process of learning how to
succeed. Even though I seek to be optimistic in my life and learn from failure, I still
struggle, and thats how it should be. When we struggle it gives us a chance to
appreciate the better times, and gives us something to work towards so we dont
get stuck in the rut of life.
Though struggle and trial are a part of life, it doesnt need to consume us, or
control us. Hardships should be the fire that refines us, that helps us burn brighter.
It can be applied to the refiners fire. Diamonds are priceless jewels, but dont start
out that way. Coal thats ruff on the surface, is put through intense heat and
pressure, nearly pushing it to its breaking point, which then produces diamonds.
Our lives are similar. We endure intense heat every single day. Trials, hardships. Our
standards are tried, our integrity is tested, it is a constant battle we face, but all is
not lost. When we see the brighter side of these trials, a fire will burn within us that
will grant us depth and knowledge that can be shared to other people facing similar
trials.
People who dont understand this need our help. I believe that is something
that I am called to do. With the things that we think and the skills that we have, we
can buoy up those that are being lost to the tempest of this life. This is something

that I feel I need to do in my life. To be a helping hand and be a difference in

someone elses life. The choices we make and the skills that we chose to use will
define who we become. This affects not only us, but all those around us. I know the
things I chose to spend my time on will inevitably effect those around me, how they
see me, and how they treat me.
Ive talked a lot about how other people can help other people, but I want to
change pace and talk about who I have become through this principle. I have
always tried to live this principle, but studying values and using other peoples
examples, has helped me see that there is a lot of places I still need to improve. I
havent always been the most confident person, but now know some ways of
improving that. Overall I have seen other peoples different views on life and it has
given me a broader perspective and appreciation for who I am and what I have the
potential to achieve.
Overall, I just believe in happiness. Happiness is who I am, and also what I
want to become. To have happiness in all experiences. Though I know sadness, and
sorrow will persist, I can find my joy, if I will only look for it. Yesterdays history,
tomorrows a mystery, but today is a gift, that is why it is called the present. Master
Uguay. Learn from yesterday, prepare for tomorrow, by living today. Happiness will
follow. Thats what I believe.
