Primary Aquatics Block 2 2014-15

Dear Parents/Guardians,
The primary school will begin its Block 2 Aquatics Program for Years 1-3, beginning the week of
Monday, May 4th, 2015. The session will run over 6 weeks and finish in the week of June 12th,
2015. The goal of the program will be to promote aquatic readiness and confidence, allowing
students to develop skills necessary for swimming and other water activities. Qualified swimming
teachers will teach classes and the pool will be supervised by two lifeguards in accordance to
Hong Kong regulations.
The aquatics component at RCHK is an integral part of the Physical Education experience and all
students are expected to participate. If your child has a medical reason that prohibits her/him from
participating please inform your childs homeroom teacher and send along a medical certificate.
The cost for the program will be debited from your ePayment account in due course.
Your child should come prepared to swim with a swimsuit, towel, goggles and swim cap. There
will be times during each lesson when your child will be expected to be in the water without
goggles to promote aquatics readiness and water safety.
The use of neoprene suits and sun shirts is not permitted. Neoprene suits are not permitted
as they are often of improper size and, given that our pool is heated to 30 C plus, unnecessary.
Sun shirts, as the name suggests are for UV protection from the sun as well as protection from
jellyfish stings. Neither of these are an issue in our indoor swimming pool.
At the moment there is no school swimsuit available, however we have swim caps in your childs
house name and colour available in the shop.
Please note:
Year 1 students helpers from home (parent or helper) should have ONE PERSON
ONLY helping them to change.
Year 2 students helpers may only help at the END of the lesson.
Years 3 we aim to develop personal independence and therefore, NO PARENTS or
HELPERS are required to assist students with changing into bathing costumes.
