Oldham County, Kentucky is located in what is referred to as Tornado Alley,
where severe weather can produce deadly tornadoes. Residents who receive warning can take appropriate cover. Suppose that additional sirens are being considered for Oldham County. You are asked to help decide where one of the sirens might be placed to reach a large number of residents. Using the provided map of Oldham County and a coordinate plane, select a placement for one siren and then write the equation of the boundary of its coverage area. The siren can be heard for two miles. You are to submit a short explanation of your placement site along with the graph of your siren indicating its coverage area and the equation. Note: No two answers should be the same. If you and another student have the exact same equations and explanations then you will NOT receive the extra credit!
Exemplary work: Place two sirens to reach a large number of residents
without having their coverage areas overlap. Write an equation for the boundary of each of the coverage areas. You are to submit a short explanation of your placement sites along with one graph of your two sirens indicating their coverage areas and their equations. Clearly identify the corresponding equation for each siren.
